Foster Care Management Details
Once Meridian is notified that a child has been enrolled in foster care, the child will be promptly registered into our Foster Care Management Program, ensuring access to a team of dedicated professionals who will assist in coordinating their care. These staff members will collaborate with provider office contacts to facilitate appointment scheduling. It is required that all children in foster care under the age of 21 receive a comprehensive medical examination and mental health screening by a primary care provider within the first 30 days of entering foster care. This examination must occur even if the child has had a recent health maintenance visit prior to entering foster care. This comprehensive evaluation, also known as an Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) or Well-Child Exam, is essential for ensuring the child's health and well-being.
